“Sankofa” is an Akan (Twi) word meaning “go back and get what was left behind” — the mission of reclaiming lost history to build the future.
Sankofa Daily is an independent, YouTube-first media brand that preserves and popularizes Black history. Through short, rigorously-sourced video — every claim receipted to primary sources like the Library of Congress, National Archives, and the Schomburg Center — it tells the history the textbooks skipped: the untold figures, the hidden events, the roots before slavery, and the legacies that shape today. It also publishes a new sourced statistic on African American life every day. By owning its audience directly, Sankofa Daily keeps this work free, accurate, and impossible to quietly erase.
Sankofa Daily was founded on one conviction: as Black history is edited out of textbooks and curricula, it must be preserved somewhere no one can quietly erase it. The brand is deliberately about the record, not any one person — the mission is bigger than a byline.
